Originally from Paktia province, but moved to Kabul 11 years ago for a better life. Her husband sold the land they had there and he bought a house in Kabul. Initially things were good, but gradually he became addicted to heroin. He sold their property in Kabul. Initially he hid it and did it quietly so nobody knew<br />
Family have been moved into a house belonging to someone who moved to Iran. The camp leader asked if they could stay after her children got sick. Now the owner of the house is asking for 3,000 Afghanis a month and she is not able to pay.<br />
“My husband was addicted and three months ago he died.<br />
When he was in need of money he borrowed 200,000 Afghanis against his oldest daughter, Farida, 8. “They said if they can pay in two years the girl will be ours.”<br />
The father did the same deal with the next youngest daughter, Parwana, 6, getting 150,000 Afghanis against her.<br />
Her three-year-old son Zabihullah died of pneumonia three months ago, when they were living in a freezing tent. “He was ill for about a month before he died but we didn't have money to take him to the hospital, so we were just taking care of him inside the house with no treatment.”<br />
“I woke up in the morning and I saw my son had died and I cried. I was crying because of the poverty because I was not able to take him to hospital for treatment. It was really hard to deal with what happened.<br />

“When that baby was sick this baby (Omid, 1,) had the same problem and the camp leader paid to take his brother to the doctor.” He still has a sickening cough, which he periodically hacks up into a rag.<br />
He had worked in UAA and they had a good life, with him sending money home from his job working with metal in Dubai. When he came back to Kabul after his working visa expired he started gambling and dealing with money.<br />
